JAFZA overview

JAFZA is the UAE's oldest and largest free zone, next to Jebel Ali Port — one of the busiest ports in the world. It is built for trading, logistics and industry, with warehouses, land plots and offices available.

If you move physical goods in volume, JAFZA's direct port and Al Maktoum Airport links can save you time and cost. For service-only businesses, a cheaper zone is usually a better fit.

JAFZA issues trading, service and industrial licences and is very well regarded by banks and international partners.

Best for

  • Importers and exporters
  • Logistics companies
  • Manufacturers
  • Companies needing warehouses

Visa & office options

JAFZA companies can sponsor up to 25 residence visas, depending on the office you choose. In most free zones, a flexi-desk supports a small number of visas, and larger quotas need a shared or private office. The investor (owner) visa usually counts towards the quota.

Available office options in JAFZA: flexi-desk, private office, warehouse. If you expect to hire, choose a package with room to grow — upgrading later is possible but often costs more than starting with the right setup.

Minimum share capital: AED 1,000 (declared; usually not required to be deposited — confirm per activity).

Documents required

  • Passport copy of every shareholder and manager (valid 6+ months)
